Look out for the sledding kids. Those young whippersnappers are the reason Yaktraks are such a popular item at Sweetman’s Dry Goods!
Some slackers have not completed their outdoor decorations. Do you notice that neighbor on his roof, putting up his yellow lights?
Luckily, his spouse has left a plate of cookies (see them on her stoop?) for the visiting neighbors walking by. (If your eyes aren’t that good, click on the picture and you’ll see the notes on the photo).
Come visit anytime. The streets of our Holiday Village are always cleared of snow; their lovely decorations welcome walkers to saunter down any time of day or night.

That village is very impressive indeed, Imperatrix. As a family of four, we have, when the children were young, had a nice gingerbread house at Christmas. But a whole village — wow!

HUBRIS!
On Monday, the eve of his arrest, Blagojevich showed that he could include hubris among his many flirtations with disaster. At a rally of out-of-work factory hands soiled by his presence, he all but asked to be followed and recorded.
“I should say if anybody wants to tape my conversations, go right ahead,” he said. “I can tell you whatever I say is always lawful.”
Then, like Huey Long at his most egregious, he cast himself as the person who has nothing to sell but an honest day’s labor. If you were to tape him, he added, you would hear a governor “who tirelessly and endlessly figures out ways to help average, ordinary working people.”
I know, what a doofus.
And really, never trust a man in a bad toupee.
I figured since it was THAT bad, it must be his real hair.
It takes a village, you know. I like that it’s built on a sheet (as it were) of ice.
I love the snow!
When I was a little girl, we had Dutch au pairs (sisters, one after the other) and their family and ours became friends. Every St Nicholas day, they sent a box of goodies and they were wonderful, especially the gingerbread (a model of St N) which was not like any we could get here. I’ve never been able to find it since. Your village makes me nostalgic.
