The Mainstream Press is Losing our Trust

15 September 2008

Why has this not been picked up by the mainstream media?

Alaska Women Reject Palin Rally Is Huge

This rally occurred yesterday. This morning, at 8:52 a.m., a commenter (#8) on the New York Times site posted the link (Ironically, the comment was on a Nagourney column about the new media people are using to get their political news). It is now a bit after noon, and I see nothing about this rally on NYT.

I think the answer to why people are going to alternate sources for their news is that the news machine is oblivious.

WOW. But the problem, as I see it, is lots of people are doing the exact opposite of going to alternate news sources. They’re going to Fox News and getting spoon fed the crap and slurping it right down like good citizens.

    This is big.

I read so much GOOD stuff in the NYT that I can’t believe they’re oblivious. Aye-yah-yie, though.

    I guess it’s up to us…..

HuffPo had it on their website.

Not exactly CNN or MSNBC, though.

Oh, wait. USA today had it:

Shoot I’m still waiting for MSM coverage of the march in DC three years ago…

Ellie: I don’t have much faith that anything would change the mind of the hardcore Fox watchers. But I figure, those on the fence? They may do a bit more thinking, you know?

Stew: Sorry, Huffington Post doesn’t count as mainstream to me. And USA Today (aka, “Picture Pages”)? I guess that might be a bit better — maybe.

    Marcy: Ah, yes.

    Picture Pages! Love it!
Give me the NYT any day.

Ugh, Neil Conan has a bunch of “feminist” Palin apologists on TOTN today. I had to switch it off.

Once again, the Bush administration tries to leave the door open for vigilante health providers to block reproductive care for women. Take a peek.

Cate: This is terrible! Thanks for sharing hte link. Now, who should we contact? Our representatives? I’ll do some digging.
