Surprise Success

16 July 2008

Yesterday, after months of planning, slews of emails back and forth, and the telling of a few white lies, we celebrated the Consort’s upcoming 40th birthday with a surprise party/bbq. His mom hosted, and his two sisters and their families came up for the afternoon. Such a fun time!

Oh no ... the Big Four-Oh!
The birthday boy

It is always a pleasure to see how much his family loves him and how much fun they have with him when we’re around. The Consort is a great guy, and I love to see him so happy. We’ll miss these folks when we return to Iowa, that’s for sure.

We all pitched in and got him a Wii — my never-wants-anything man, my gifts-don’t-really-float-my-boat man, up and said he thought a Wii could be fun (he had just read a review of the recent Wii Fitness), so how could we refuse?

When we got home, he set it up, and now we’re all busy making Miis and breaking the game in.

    cowgirl: You’re on!

Katharine: I suppose that makes me a cradle robber!

    Z: Don’t worry, you’re actually 6 weeks early. He’ll turn 40 on September 3.
