MizMell, don’t even say that! In Iowa, they can get their permit at age 14. Impera keeps reminding us of this, and of the fact that one of her best friends has gotten his permit already!

You know, I’ve been sitting here debating with myself whether its appropriate for an older, somewhat unknown man, to say happy birthday lest it be misunderstood. Our society has done some strange things to interpersonal relations.

Anyway, in a completely semi uncle, entirely friendly sort of way, happy birthday. She’s a lovely girl imperatrix, you should be, and probably, are very proud.

    Driving licence at 14? Blimey.

Many happy returns, although late ones, Impera.

Z: At 14 they can get a “permit”. You must pass the written test, and then you are allowed to drive with one of your parents. At this point, it isn’t about freedom at all, just about prestige. 😉 At 16 you must past the driving test to get a license. I’m pretty sure that the first few years after receiving the driver’s license, you may not drive with more than one other teen in the car (distraction is a major killer for teen drivers).
